Would I be able to use my Master's of Public Administration degree in the EU?
I have been thinking about, sometime in the future, working in the EU (not now, I know times are hard). I may be able to obtain dual-citizenship with an EU country, but would I be able to use my Master of Public Administration degree from a U.S. university? Some people tell me that European universities are more difficult than universities here, but I know some international students who will be completing their entire degree here and then going back to their home country. My bachelor's degree is in Economics. I speak English and Italian fluently, and I'm conversational level in Spanish and Turkish. What do you think? What I meant in the last sentence, first paragraph, is that the international students will return to their home countries with their U.S. degrees and find work.

European universities can't be more difficult. They're SOCIALIST!

Just make sure that ur degree is apostilled (legalised from USA property ministry) & it is surely acceptable in European Union. You shouldn't have any problem using ur degree in EU.

Public administration can pay very well if you find the right position to start with. What are promotions possibilities? Don't take a dead end job. Usually public admin is easier to obtain since you will have less competition. It is better to use the web to research the best jobs in city, county, state or federal.

government, NGO or lobbying firm? I'm not quite sure the career path in PA, but it is something u can look into.
2
Local or national government, municipal office, law enforcement, or even politics (but you wouldn't qualify for politics if you did all of your own work on your master degree!).
3
You know I have that same question. I finish my last quarter in Decemeber and it seems that its hard getting your foot in the door. What I would suggest is finding a paid internship. Nonetheless from what I heard it can be a very lucrative profession.

Masters Public Administration vs Masters Business Administration
Masters Public Administration vs Masters Business Administration?
My goal in the future is to work in the public sector, or more specifically in the county and state government. I am open to many positions that would be available from to the Planning Department to the Personnel Services. Which degree would more valuable when pursuing these type of goals, an MBA (Masters of Business Administration) or an MPA (Masters of Public Administration)?

The MPA is probably more suitable, but I am not an expert on that area. You may want to do a small private poll and ask people who work in government what they think and which degree they have. Before you decide on an MBA program explore the Internet for information on available programs. There is a lot of information available. Some sites are limited to specific countries, such as Germany, UK, or Australia. There is a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. The nice thing is that it allows you to find the program that best fits you. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their accreditation status look for AACSB accreditation or at least AACSB membership), tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. Schools provide data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees, joint degrees such as MBA/JD, and much more. You can use it to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre-applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. some of the other sites are less comprehensive, but all are useful.

I suggest you check out American Military University as they offer Master's degrees in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. They are Regionally accredited and online. Check AMU out amu.apus.edu and you will like it.

Could a teacher be a good candidate for a MPA (Master of Public Administration?)
Could a teacher be a good candidate for a MPA (Master of Public Administration?)?
I hold a bachelor's degree in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations (you would think I could spin this) and a minor in Non-Profit Management which is a perfect fit for an MPA. I am interested in Public Administration with support work in Political Science. My long term goal is to serve the community as a city manager. I have been teaching social studies for five years in a public school. How can I make this be an asset as an MPA candidate?

Yeah, that's good experience for entry into that sort of program. By definition, we teachers are civil servants as well.

Currently, I am conflicted on whether I should attempt to earn a Master of Public Administration or an MBA?
Currently, I am in the United States Air Force, and I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts, and an Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology. I am considering going to Graduate school for either an MPA or an MBA. My question is which degree program of two would be preferable for an individual who is not that strong in mathematics to attempt?

It depends on whether you are interested in a public service career or a business career. The math issue is not relevant. MBA programs are not highly quantitative. MBA programs accept students in any undergraduate field. They prefer students who do not have a business background because they give you the business training but they cannot provide the broad background that managers should have. I have taught MBA students with degrees in Music, Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Psychology, Political Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, and many other fields. Most MBA programs prefer students with 2-3 years work experience after the first degree. Military duty counts as work experience. Before you decide on an MBA program explore the Internet for information on available programs. There is a lot of information available in free public service sites. Some sites are limited to specific countries, such as Germany, UK, or Australia. Some list a small number of select schools, while others may include more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. You can find the program that best fits you. You can search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by type of degree (MBA, MS, Ph.D). In some cases you can select your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. You can find data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees such as MBA/JD, and much more. Some sites have links to the schools' web sites, or provide email addresses to contact schools of your choice, and send them pre-applications. You can find lists of top schools ranked by various periodicals or ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. Generally you should stay away from any sites that require you to pay to get information or that promise to find scholarships for you or ensure acceptance into a program. Before you provide any personal information to a site, be sure to read their privacy policy and make sure they are not harvesting email addresses for sale.

A school that does not require any sort of entrance exam for a Masters degree doesn't seem like it could be that good. What are you afraid of taking the exam for? How am I to believe Murray State is a very underrated school if their own graduates are running away from a simple exam, looking to get away from it in any way they can. Is that what they teach at Murray? Take the easy way out and never go for a challenge?
