BSW- Persuing Masters Public Administration?
I currently have a B.S. in Social Work and am going for my M.P.A. I am worried that I will not be able to find a job after achieving my masters. I live in Chicago and am trying to find a way of going about finding an entry-level job for a position in Public Administration.

I have an MPA, and given the state of the economy, it is next to impossible for me to find a job in the public sector. If you choose to pursue the degree, I offer the following advice: 1) Work throughout your program so that you do not have to look for a job when you get out. 2) If you do not have a job, intern the entire time you are in the program, even if just for 10 hours a week. 3) Learn something useful, like statistical analysis and public finance, preferably both so you can become a Finance or Management Analyst. Enough people know organizational theory and leadership. 4) Anything with "strategic" in the title is probably a good class to take.

Hi! I have completed BS. Criminal Justice Administration and thinking what career path shuold I take. Do I go for Mater of Advance Studies in Criminology, Law, and Society from UCI or an (MPA) or Master of Public Administration from California State University Dominguez Hills? Do I get more chances of getting a better job from UCI or CSUDH? Which one do you think will be more appealing for local, state or federal government employers? Please help. I would prefer a course or a school that can help me get a better and more secured job in the future. Which one is the wisest idea?

seriously, the gov't employers care more about your degree than where you earned it. It doesn't matter for a gov't job unless its academic related like a state university job... If I were you, i would go to UCI no matter what...Irvine is a top 10 public university. I think Cal is 2, UCLA is 3, Michigan 4, and UCSD, Irvine, and Davis are all also in the top 10. CSU Dominguez is not even close to their levels in terms of reputation.
